NYC BBQ Block Party

Perfect Sunday spent eating delicious tender and moist baby back ribs with great friends. Was never a big fan of Apple pie, but the fried pie was surprisingly good!

Spring Break in Cali

It's finally Spring Break! This semester has been overwhelming with 5 classes. The readings alone are enough to take up my 24 hours, not to mention all the assignments and projects. I'm so glad I have a week to recuperate but it just feels really weird to go back after Spring Break and still be in the middle of the semester. What a drag.

I took the opportunity to really relax, and do what I enjoy most -- baking. It's so therapeutic. Baby and I also drove to Napa Valley to enjoy some wine from the castle. Before that, he took me to satisfy my craving of In-n-Out burgers. I don't understand all the hype over Shake-Shack. Personally, hands down In-n-Out is better than Shake Shack. So to be fair, if I crave In-n-Out when I'm in New York, I'll probably still head to Shake Shack, but if I had a choice to choose, I'll want my In-n-Out. Delicious!!!

I made two batches of cookies -- one with chocolate chips, and one without to satisfy all my loved ones. While my sister and I loveeee chocolate, my boyfriend, his family, my aunt and uncle don't really care for it and prefer non-chocolate type of desserts. They turn out to be a hit! Both batches are equally good, I can't wait to bake more of these for gifts.

New York Winter 2013 Restaurant Week [Jojo]

Fourth and final destination: Jojo, one of the many Jean-Georges restaurants. Stepping into Jojo feels as thought you're stepping into a little quaint French house; warm, cozy, and elegant. This was by far, the best restaurant week destination. Every dish was perfectly cooked and leaves you wanting more. Even the bread and butter was excellent and we couldn't resist asking for more.

 {cream tomato soup with basil-cheddar crostini}
I can without a doubt say that this is THE best tomato soup I have ever tasted.

 {slowly cooked cod with maple-celeriac puree & pink peppercorn vinaigrette}

 {warm molten chocolate cake, vanilla ice-cream}
I've heard people talk about foodgasm. This is what eating it feels like.

My wish is to dine at Jean-Georges before leaving NYC. *fingers crossed*

New York Winter 2013 Restaurant Week [Ai Fiori]

Third Stop: Ai Fiori. I just adore the name of this restaurant. Translated into Italian, it reads 'among the flowers'. This restaurant is located inside the beautiful Langham Place hotel on 5th Ave. Stepping into this hotel was reminiscent of the one in Hong Kong which my mom and I stayed in during our vacation a few years ago.

It snowed heavily while we were dining and it such so romantic watching the snow silently and gently fall. I wish Joe was with me then! <3
