Happy New Year!
Xin Nian Kuai Le!
Gung Hei Faat Choy!
Even though it's the Lunar New Year, it's been really quiet over here. Unless you step inside a Chinese grocery store, there are almost no signs of this festive holiday existing. I guess the point I'm making is I miss celebrating CNY back home with my family!
We would spring clean the entire (literally) house. My dad would always buy New Year plants and goodies, and Mandarin Oranges. We would go shopping for new clothes (especially in red). We would have reunion dinner at my grandparent's. Our coffee tables were always filled with trays of peanuts, candies, and cookies. On the morning of the first day, we would have nian gao, and then it was going to different relative's house to bai nian or vice versa.
Here's wishing all my loved ones a happy and prosperous dragon year!
