Chinese New Year Lunch

Today we were invited to a family friend's place to celebrate Chinese New Year. According to the Lunar Calendar, today which is the seventh day of the New Year, is also yan yat (人日). 人日 also means everyone's birthday!

It was a simple and casual brunch, but completed with nian gao and tang yuan! We also played a few rounds of Blackjack (a tradition we always did back home) and aren't I glad that I won a couple of rounds after losing 4 rounds straight! Finally feels like CNY now.

{red packets I received this year}

{fresh roses//i love purple roses!}

{spring rolls and wantons}

{peanut filling tang yuan}

{sweet potato tang yuan with rice wine}

{green tea roll cake}

{Baby G getting heavier each time I see her}

... and I just realized there's no pictures of nian gao! I can only say it was sooo good (sticky and not overly sweet) that we just indulged and forgot to take a picture of.

Happy New Year folks!
